Record a meeting and gaanote separates the voices. Tell it "that's Meera" once, and it recognises Meera from then on, on this phone only.

Questions

When will gaanote be available?

We're finishing it now. It will launch on Google Play in the United States and India first. Use "Email me at launch" above and we'll send you one note when it's out.

How can it work without the internet?

The speech recognition and everything else run on your phone's own processor. The app doesn't ask Android for permission to use the network, so it can't connect, even if it wanted to.

The speech models come from Google Play when you install the app, like the rest of the app's files.

Do you see my notes or recordings?

No. There are no servers and no accounts. Your audio, text and voices are encrypted and stored only on your phone. We have no way to read them. See the privacy policy.

What if I lose my phone?

gaanote makes encrypted backups to a folder you choose. You can copy them to a USB drive, an SD card or any cloud drive you already use. When you set up, you get a recovery key. With a backup and that key, you can restore everything on a new phone.

We can't recover your data for you. Keep the recovery key somewhere safe, such as a password manager.

Is it legal to record other people?

It depends on where you are. In some US states everyone in a conversation must agree to being recorded. Always tell people when you're recording them. gaanote always shows on screen and in a notification when it's recording, and it has no hidden mode.

Which phones will it run on?

Android 10 or newer. gaanote is built and tested to run well on everyday phones with 4 GB of memory. Google Play will tell you if your phone is supported.
